At just 13, WIM Pratitee Bordoloi is emerging as one of India’s most promising young chess talents. In 2026, she became the National Under-17 Girls Champion, scoring 9/11, and created history at the FIDE World Youth Chess Championship in Italy by winning the silver medal in the Girls U-18 category—competing against opponents up to five years older. She remained unbeaten with 9/11, becoming India’s only medallist at the championship and earning her first WIM norm.
Pratitee then achieved another major milestone by winning the Asian Junior Girls Chess Championship in Mumbai. Her championship victory earned her the direct WIM title, as well as a WGM norm, marking a remarkable double achievement at the continental level. She also won silver in the Asian Junior Girls Rapid Chess Championship in Mumbai, further demonstrating her strength across both classical and rapid formats.
These achievements underline Pratitee’s exceptional talent, consistency and remarkable ability to compete successfully at the highest international level, even against significantly older and more experienced opponents.
